Family has always been at the center of Zelie Hughes’ work, and her latest collection draws directly from the inspiring women in her life and the powerful connections they share. Growing up in Houston, Hughes was surrounded by matriarchs who embodied strength and elegance—qualities she channels into designs that celebrate mutual support during life’s most monumental moments. Her experience as a debutante and the captivating world of debutante balls, with their elaborate traditions and heartfelt celebrations, serve as key inspirations for this season.
At the heart of the collection is bespoke beading created exclusively for Sibley, a hallmark of Hughes’ dedication to craftsmanship and individuality. The camellia flower, with its overlapping petals, inspires the sculptural shapes of petal skirts, while silhouettes borrow from the timeless glamour of the 1950s. Unique beading, floral prints, and covered buttons lend the designs a refined yet approachable beauty.
Hughes explores themes of femininity and artistry through fabric choices and intricate details. The collection’s petal skirts and floral motifs evoke the layered complexity of relationships, while bold 1950s-inspired shapes symbolize strength and presence. Sustainability also plays a significant role, with Hughes incorporating upcycled elements in ways that feel both intentional and seamless.
